CAMPAIGN RECORD

My name is Dylan Giambatista. I’m a 2-term Vermont State Rep and 2020 candidate for State Senate in Chittenden County. In January, I partnered with my former Rough Francis bandmate, Urian Hackney, to record 2 original songs about running for office. The songs were sent to press in January. At the time, no one knew how much our lives would change this spring. The coronavirus has impacted many Vermonters, and I know many neighbors feel down on their luck. That’s why I want to share my music with you. I’m giving away 300 copies of a limited edition vinyl record about the 2020 election. Check out the music video & tracks below!

Run For It

(Verse 1)
All
 dayevery night
Door after door ’til there’s no sunlight
You gotta work for it
If you knock knock doors and hit parades
Spread the word about election day
You gotta work for it

(Chorus)
Run
runrunrunrun and say

I will run today,
You gotta go for it, Go on and run for it
Runrunrunrunrun and say
I will run today,
You gotta go for it, Go on and run for it

(Bridge)
Don’t stop, don’t quit

Don’t lose your wit
If you wanna make change
You gotta run for it

(Verse 1)
No time, time at all
Launch in the spring and run through the fall
You gotta work for it
If you give a little back for those working for a livin’
Give a little thanks for the future you were given
You gotta work for it

(Chorus)

(Bridge)

(Verse 3)
You start at the bottom and you work to the top
Don’t ever let them tell you to quit or stop
You gotta work for it
Whether first or second don’t shy away
Keep pushing ’til the people finally go your way
You gotta run for it.

[unintelligible screech]

(Chorus x2)

Side B: Vote For Me

Lyrics: "Vote For Me"

Vote for Me

(Verse 1)
Hey! I wasn’t born to be an optimist
I learned to smile this way
Spent many years as a pessimist
I dropped school and wore some frowns along the way
I wasn’t born to be an optimist
Saw many losses ‘fore I ever knew a win
So I work hard to give ‘em all a shot
‘Cause I’m not a fair weather politician

(Chorus)
Don’t care for titles
Don’t need the recognition
Won’t over promise like a foolish politician
We’ll do it differently
Just you wait and see
We’ll make it better if you vote for me

(Verse 2)
I never finished first in anything
I was the back of the pack
Took many tries to finish anything
Yeah, I found my way and I never looked back
I never finished first in anything
I was an outsider looking back in
So I work hard to give ‘em all a shot
‘Cause I’m not a fair weather politician

(Chorus)

(Bridge)
Lived a while as a pessimist — It wasn’t fun
‘Cause everyone, everywhere needs a smile now and then
So slow down, take a breath, and smile when you run

(Verse 3)
I wasn’t born to be an optimist a pessimist
But optimism is better so I smile this way
I wasn’t born to be a politician with a vision
But I made my decision so I’m running today

(Chorus x 2)

(Coda)
Don’t care for titles, naw
They never meant much to me
I wasn’t born to be an optimist, a pessimist
I just got one ask it’s this:
Vote for me
